We are an a cappella singing group (voice only) formed in March 2009 by a small group of people who used to meet up at a weekly singing workshop held at The Met. We currently have around 40 members; but the numbers change with the seasons.
We welcome membership from anyone of high school age (14+) and upwards. |
We do not compete - we sing for the sheer love of singing, for the joy that it brings us as individuals and for the delight that it gives to our audiences, no matter how large or small they may be.
Our musical director is Eleanor Hill, who started singing around the piano with her grandmother and later studied for a music degree, specialising in performance on the French Horn. After many years singing in choirs and playing in bands and orchestras, and while working as a primary school teacher, she discovered the wonderful world of a capella singing and the ‘Natural Voice’ philosophy. She is a member of the Natural Voice Practitioners’ Network.
People ask where the name Acapeelers comes from. It is a mash up of Acapella (the type of singing we do) and a reference to Sir Robert Peel – the famous “son of Bury”.
