November 2024 - to celebrate 15 years of the choir, we high-tailed it over to St. Anne's for a weekend of glorious singing and good company
Our Thanks to Jon Aveyard who taught us some cracking shorts songs including: The Water Wheel, Bella Mama & Senua de Dende; Penny Stones' "Every Grain of Sand"; "Bring Me your Broken HearT"; "Hearbeat", the challenging "Young Rider, Apple-cheeked" and "Hold You in Our Circle". We got through a lot material that afternoon
And Sunday morning brought us Anni Tracey who shared with us: "Do you ken the wren?"; a cracking Georgian Christmas number; a song based on the words of Ruth Bader-Ginsber "One Step at a Time" and "Vigil"

We have such a great day with Lester in March that we invited him back to the Fusilier's Museum. The workshop was seasonally focussed and along with our "pie and peas" lunch we learned some magical songs including a new tune (to us) for “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” and the “Christmas Truce Song” written by Lester’s colleague, Jim Boyes. You can hear some of Coope, Boyes & Simpson's material on line here Saturday 22nd March 2014
We had a really lovely workshop led by Lester Simpson. Lester is part of Coope Boyes and Simpson - a vocal folk trio, formed around 1990. Their sound is rich and often has unusual vocal harmonies. More info from their website click here |
Thanks to the Fusilier Museum for hosting our event and the Delicious café for the food
